There are only two ways we deal with people. We either patronize them, or we are paternalistic.  The two words come from the Latin root 'pater', which means 'father'. But they mean two different things. Paternalistic, I treat anybody from a different culture as if they were my children. Patronizing, I treat everybody from another culture as if they were my servants.

사람들을 대하는데는 두가지 방법만 있습니다. patronize 하든지 아니면 paternalistic 하든지.  이 두단어는 모두 아버지라는 의미를 가진 라틴어 'pater'에서 왔지만, 서로 다른 뜻을 가지고 있습니다. paternalistic하다는것은 서로 다른 문화를 가진 사람들을 마치 자신의 아이들처럼 (사랑으로) 대한다는 뜻입니다. (하지만) Patronizing 하는것은 다른 문화 사람들을 마치 자신의 하인을 대하듯 대하는것을 의미합니다.
