cutting edge 보다는 좀더 대중적인 느낌이다.
새로 출시된 핸드폰니 state-of-the -art features를 가지고 있다고 한다면, 연구소나 전문 국가 기관 같은곳에는 cutting edge features를 가진 컴퓨터가 있다고 할수 있다.
어떤 종류의 기계에도 쓸수 있지만 패션 같이 유행이 있는 대상에는 쓰지 않는다. 최첨단 소재나 섬유에는 쓸수 있겠지만...

심각하지 않게 얘기하려는 의도가 있는편이다. 

If you're going to spend a lot of money on anything, it might as well be for your health.

어디에 돈을 좀 많이 쓸려고 한다면 건강을 위해서 쓰는게 낫죠.

 

We might as well call a taxi.

택시를 부르는게 낫겠다.

 

We might as well go see how wet the courts are before we decide.

결정하기전에 코트가 얼마나 젖었는지 가서 보는게 낫겠다.

 

I might as well tell you what happened to your car while you were gone.

네가 없는 동안 네 차에 무슨일이 있었는지 말해주는게 낫겠다. (별일 아니라는듯이 말하는 말투이다)

~을 다른것과 다르게 만들다 (~은 특별하다)

stick out , stand out 은 그냥 눈에 띈다라면  대개 좋은 의미에서 다른것과 구별된다는 뜻이다. 우리나라 말로 차별화된다가 비슷하다.

 

I suppose that's what sets you apart from most other gyms.

그래서 다른 대부분의 체육관과 차별되는군요.(더 특별하군요)
