수동태로 의미를 좀더 정확히 이해해보면, made of wood 는 '나무(라는 재료)로 만들어진' 이라는 뜻이라면 made up of a flat surface and two legs 는 '납작한 판과 2개의 다리로 만들어진' 이라는 의미로 전체를 구성하는 부품을 이야기 하는것입니다.
