The North American International Detroit Auto Show is back./ But the show isn't the same glitzy event as it was three years ago./ It used to be considered a crown jewel of the auto show circuit/ because of the vehicle debuts and companies./ But this year's show is geared more toward consumers/ and less toward the industry./ Automakers have also been pulling back from elaborate multi-story displays that cost millions./ The show was more spread out/ so automakers could do more with their displays,/ like Ford offering ride-alongs in a Bronco in an off-road course.

 

디트로이트 북미 국제 자동차 박람회가 돌아왔습니다. 그러나 3년 전과 같은 호화로운 행사는 아니었습니다. 디트로이트 박람회는 신차 공개들과 자동차 제조사들 참여로 한 때 자동차 박람회의 꽃으로 불렸습니다. 그러나 올해 박람회는 업계보다는 소비자에게 포커스가 맞춰졌습니다. 자동차업체들은 또한 수백만 달러가 드는 정교한 다층 전시에서 물러났습니다. 대신 포드사가 오프로드 코스에서 브롱코 시승을 선보이는 등 올해 박람회는 자동차업체들이 다양한 종류의 전시를 할 수 있도록 공간이 더욱 넓게 마련되었습니다

People in lederhosen and dirndls/ rushed to get seats in beer tents/ after the gates opened for Oktoberfest./ After two years of pandemic cancellations,/ the event was back with the same bicep-challenging beer mugs,/ fat-dripping pork knuckles,/ and pretzels the size of dinner plates./ Tourists said they intended to explore authentic German culture/ and swig beer./ However, visitors and brewers faced pressure from inflation/ in a way that could hardly have been imagined during past years./ A 1-liter mug of beer cost nearly 14 euros this year,/ up 15% from the last Oktoberfest in 2019.

옥토버페스트가 시작되자마자 레더호센(무릎까지 오는 가죽바지)과 던들(허리나 상의는 꽉 조이고 치마폭은 아주 넓은 치마나 원피스)을 입은 인파가 맥주 텐트에 자리를 잡기 위해 몰려들었습니다. 옥토버페스트 행사는 팬데믹 상황으로 인해 2년 연속 취소가 된 후 이전과 같이 무거운 맥주잔, 기름진 슈바인스학세 (독일식 돼지 족발), 그리고 접시 크기만 한 프레첼과 함께 돌아왔습니다. 여행객들은 원조 독일 문화를 경험하고 맥주를 꿀꺽꿀꺽 마실 계획이라고 밝혔습니다. 그러나 방문객들과 양조자 모두 과거에는 상상도 하지 못했던 인플레이션으로 금전적 압박을 받았습니다. 올해 1리터짜리 맥주 한 잔은 14유로로, 2019년 옥토버페스트 대비 15%이나 인상되었습니다.
