to categorize people(things) in the same group as other people(things)

~ 를 같은 부류로 취급하다.

편견이나 고정관념과 관련되어 쓰이는 경우가 많다. 우리말로 “싸잡아서 말하다”, “일반화시키다”등으로 해석할수 있을것같다.
하지만 중립적으로 어떤 상황을 “단순화”시키려고 할때도 쓴다. 즉,세부적인 사항에 신경쓰지 않고 단순화시켜 전체를 본다는 의미로 쓴다.
